New Phones for Virgin Mobile

Virgin Mobile is about to receive 2 new cellular phones that are going to be a great addition to their line up. So what's so great about these new phones? They have bluetooth, cameras, GPS, and one is a motorolla... but that's not it. They are good quality phones that you would find in a contract based cellular companys line up. These aren't the phones your used to from Virgin Mobile, and with any hope VM's whole line up is going to be re-vamped to include mostly high quality phones and not the cheap throw aways they currently offer.

Virgin Mobile Switch_Back 2 - The Wild Card
The Wild Card, or the Switch_Back 2, is the new and improved Switch Back. The new Wild Card has bluetooth, a 1.3 megapixel camera and video recorder, Media Player, GPS Locator (the gps function is doubtfully going to be utilized by VM), Full QWERTY keyboard that is easier to use than the previous, and many new styling improvements. The Wild Card is available NOW for $99 from wal-mart, and should be available on VM's site within a week or so...

Virgin Mobile W385 Saber_Tooth
The Motorolla W385 has been confirmed as a future Virgin Mobile phone. The W385 is a thin and light candy bar design. The W385 also has an onboard camera with 4x digital zoom, GPS functions, wireless web browsing, media messaging, and bluetooth. The W385 will be available within 3-6 weeks and is going to be a great phone, and mark the first time ever that Virgin Mobile USA has offered a Motorolla.

Don't be surprised if you start seeing phones like the Motorolla Razr or the MotoRizr in the Virgin Mobile line up in the near future!

Oh, and Virgin Mobile Canada is not left out. VM Canada will also be getting 2 new phones, the Samsung 510 and m300. The Samsung 510 will also have bluetooth, an MP3 player, 1.3 megapixel camera and video recorder, and an includer 64 mb SD card which can be expanded to up to a 2 gig SD card. The m300 is an a640 replacement and now includes bluetooth and a camera.

Nice post. The Wild Card : AKA Kyocera M1000.

The bad news.....price to send/receive single SMS messeges is going up to .10 cents.
The $1.99 SMS bundle goes from 50 messeges to 30 messeges
The good news....Unlimited SMS can be had for 19.99 a month starting October 27.

Lots of changes this month with Phones, Bluetooth, SMS, & new, (better) overage minute charge rates.

Don't suppose you could check with your people at VM to find out the 6 digit service code for the LG Aloha? I'm trying to enable the serial port so I can backup contacts using bitpim.

Does anyone know if Virgin will be coming out with a less gadgety phone with bigger buttons for us old fogeys? I just want to be able to make calls and text message. No phones, nothing fancy. I know Jbug has one, but their fee structure doesn't compare with Virgin's. Plus, I'm not sure you can text with their phones.

Btw, I'm still carrying around a very old Party Animal! It looks very rough, but I haven't had any trouble with it at all, still on the original battery too.

I Bought 3 Wild Card phones. They went on sale at Target for $40 this Xmas shopping season. My son went with unlimited texting @ $20 a month. I went with the $40 plan. it's $24.99 plus $10 unlimited texting. I spend lots of time on my phone. The IM Feature with yahoo! is great for me. I can keep up with my friends world wide.

My son though went to top-up bought a card for $20 and wasted in in under an hour. Apparently you have to call to have that feature installed after set up. It's not automatic. I called the company to try and fix it. They gave him 50 talk time minutes.

To keep the unlimited texting you must use it either with internet or by phone. He's quite upset that he blew his entire month in under and hours time. But hey you know us serious texters.

It's an easy to use phone quick handles a lot of abuse. I've had mine for 2 months now. Found a cool cover for it at :

http://www.thecoolcell.com/faceplate/kyocera/kyocera%20m1000.htm

i've dropped it a few times now. It still works great. IMs kill battery time though. Mine came with a free car charger I highly recommend getting one if you do not have one. Saved me a few times now.

These sound like great new phones to add to the Virgin entourage. Just wanted to see if anyone can confirm what I heard about virgin mobile a couple days ago: now Virgin is going to offer a welfare phone..? Sounds like they are desperate to rip off poor people. I got their service because I though they were pretty cool with music etc but lately they are offering all kinds of family things, contracts and now welfare phones. What happened to their edge?

I am not happy to hear that Virgin is going to be giving away Obamaphones to poor people.

I pay good money 4 my phone and this is just wrong. Free phones for homeless people. No way!

First it's you're not your. There is a difference. And if you can get Virgin Mobile to swap your phone you will be doing well. It's not just that the swap for my phone has failed for 4 days now. When I call the foreign based customer service line the only advice they can offer me is to call back in 24 hours. If they can't solve a problem today what good is calling back tomorrow going to do?
